Infinitives Usage

Well let's begin, We have already studied some infinitives and gerunds usage, but today I would like to focus just in sharing a complete view of the infinitives usage.
Infinitives have a lot of ways in which you can use them, and some situations are:
- To express purpose e.g.
I am calling to ask you about dad.
- As the subject of a sentence, e.g.
To visit the Grand Canyon is my life-long dream.
- To indicate what something can or will be used for,
Would you like something to drink?
- After and adjective:
It is important for you to be patient with your little brother.
- To make a judgement :
This is the right way to do.
And much more ways to use them !
As you can see the usage of infinitives is very important and useful to know because we use then every day, so that's why I'm going to share at the end of this post, some links where you will find complete information about the topic and exercises.
Also here I'm attaching a nice video where you can watch 5 ways to use infinitives, based on the location of the infinitive: direct object, subjects, subject complements, adjectives and abverbs.

I enjoyed watching all the resources that you shared with us, the topic about the different use of infinitives is really interesting, and useful too, for keeping improving our skills. The information has help me to reinforced my knowledge about different use of infinitives in specific in the case of making a comment or judgement, because it results a little bit difficult for me use them, also it help me to look some differences in use of gerunds and infinitives. Just let me ask, if only the infinitives can be used to show the intention of purpose?? Or gerunds too?

Hi, Luis. Nice post! What I learned from it is that infinitives can be used for many things in the sentence. For instance, some functions are to give a purpose of an action and as the subject of a sentence. I just one question, Can we use infinitives as adjectives? Thank you!!!

I have a doubt, Can we create sentences with used to in constructions with infinitive or gerund, I want to know what`s the correct use.

Sometimes this can be confusing to me but your post helped ke to clarify part of my doubts.I just have a small question if I say "that's the correct way of saying" is it wrong? Should I say "that's the correct way to say"? Thanks!
